When I released our original Hobo Bag, I had so many requests for a similar design that could be made in a 5x7 hoop.  I’m happy to release this one strap Hobo bag that can be made using a 5x7 hoop.

This bag is created and joined entirely in the hoop, with just a small amount of stitching needed on your sewing machine to join the sides together.

Choose from two unique styles: a multi-fabric 'true' crazy patch design, or a quicker, single-fabric version.

Available for both 5x7 and 8x10 hoops, the final size of the bag remains consistent, with the difference being the number of hoopings required.

July 2026 -  By popular request, we've added an optional Cross-Body Strap Extension to the Crazy Patch Hobo Bag design.

This new addition allows you to customise the strap length, giving you the choice of making the original shoulder bag or extending the strap to create a comfortable cross-body bag.

The Cross-Body Strap Extension:

  • ✔ Works with both the 5x7 and 8x10 bag sizes
  • ✔ Can be stitched once or repeated to achieve your preferred strap length
  • ✔ Includes full step-by-step photo instructions

We use hoop size descriptions in line with usual industry terms.  If you are unsure if your hoop is big enough for a design, please check the size in mm, or click here for a list of common Embroidery Hoop Sizes

Please note that our 6x10 designs utilize the full embroidery field, which may not fit within the Oval Bernina hoop. If this is the case, you may need to use a larger Bernina hoop or opt for the 5x7 designs instead.
