Peeking Pals Applique Design
Meet our adorable Peeping Pals Applique designs!
This fun applique set includes 4 cute Peeping Pal designs, each in 4 hoop sizes, giving you loads of options for adding them to all sorts of projects. The clever little “peeping through” style works beautifully on towels, blankets, hooded towels, bags, can coolers, and so much more.
For my samples, I used the different sizes to show just how versatile they can be:
- 4x4 – perfect for smaller projects such as my in-the-hoop Can Cooler
- 5x7 – used on hand towels and my Hooded Towel
- 8x12 – makes a fabulous feature on larger projects such as blankets
Of course, these are just ideas — use the size that best suits your own project!
FINISHED SIZE
SNUGGLE WITH ME WORDING
For blankets, I’ve included the “Snuggle with me” wording with the dog, fox and mouse designs. I haven’t included it with the frog, as I didn’t feel the wording suited that design quite as well.
You can, of course, add your own wording or name to personalise any of the designs.
PLEASE NOTE: The 6x10 files that include the wording are slightly smaller than the design-only versions. This is necessary to fit both the design and wording within the 6x10 embroidery field.
Beautiful on the Back Too!
When adding embroidery to towels, blankets and other projects where the back of your stitching may be visible, it's nice to have a neat finish on both sides.
My step-by-step instructions (and video) show you how I add a backing fabric during the embroidery process, covering the back of the applique and giving your finished project a much neater, more professional appearance.
This is especially useful for towels and blankets, where both the front and back may be seen.
OPTIONAL BASTING STITCH
I’ve included an optional basting stitch with every design file, which I find very useful when working with towels, blankets, fleece and other hard-to-hoop items. It helps hold your project securely in place while you stitch and is also perfect for holding a layer of plastic solvy/water-soluble topper in place when embroidering on towels or fleece.
If you don’t need the basting stitch for your project, simply skip this step.

I’ve also included a quick video tutorial showing exactly how I use the basting stitch and add a fabric backing during embroidery, giving you a lovely, neat finish on the back as well as the front.
Perfect for projects like towels and blankets where both sides can be seen!
